Properties evacuated due to bathroom showroom blaze
A major incident has been declared as fire crews have been tackling a blaze at a bathroom showroom.
Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said 10 fire engines and specialist vehicles were sent to the building on Selbourne Road in Luton, near the railway line.
Properties in Wingate Road have been evacuated and people in the surrounding area have been asked to keep their windows and doors closed due to the smoke.
On social media, the service said: "Our fire control room is super busy — please don't call 999 to report this fire — we are aware and we have multiple fire engines on scene."
Bedfordshire Police said it was called to a premises at 06:18 and was working with the fire service to make the area safe.
