Rainfall warning issued for Montreal, Montérégie Tuesday
Rainfall amounts could reach between 40 and 60mm in some areas
Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for parts of southwestern Quebec — including Montreal and the Montérégie region — for Tuesday.
Rainfall amounts between 40 and 60 millimetres are possible, it says, beginning in the afternoon and continuing into Tuesday night.
On its website, Environment Canada says a nearly stationary warm front associated with a low-pressure system could bring heavy rain to the area.
The weather agency warns the rainfall may cause water to pool on roads or in low-lying areas, with visibility likely to be reduced at times, in some cases suddenly.
The Eastern Townships and the Bois-Francs area could also see a lot of rain on Tuesday, with Environment Canada issuing a special weather statement for the region.
Rainfall warnings are issued when "significant impacts are expected due to rainfall amounts."
