Up to 80 millimetres of rain could fall, Environment Canada says

Environment Canada has issued a yellow-level rainfall warning for the Pembroke, Ont., area.

Showers and thunderstorms are set to move through the region today, with between 50 to 80 millimetres of rain forecast in some places, the weather agency said.

More rain is possible Sunday, Environment Canada added.

Yellow-level warnings were also issued Saturday for communities including Bancroft, Barry's Bay and Deep River.

Elsewhere in eastern Ontario, special weather statements were in effect.

In Ottawa, up to 50 millimetres of rain could fall by Sunday night, potentially drenching hundreds of athletes competing Sunday in the Ironman Triathlon.

This July is Ottawa's rainiest month on record
