Randy Brunet to speak at Carbon Capture Canada 2026 in Edmonton
On Wednesday, September 16, MLT Aikins lawyer Randy Brunet, K.C. will be speaking at Carbon Capture Canada 2026 in Edmonton, Alberta. Held from September 15–16, the Conference will explore the critical role of carbon capture and storage (CCS) in the global energy transition, with a focus on capital investment, emerging technologies, geopolitics and carbon markets.
Randy will be joining Colum Furey (Vice President, Project Development, Climeworks) and Jonah Margulis (Head of Commercial, North America, SLB Capturi) on the panel for Technology Readiness vs. Project Reality: What Survives EPC, Permitting and Operations?
Promising pilot results and compelling demonstration projects do not automatically translate into deployable technology. Constructability constraints, supply chain gaps, integration complexity, cost escalation and operational reliability all filter the field between what works in controlled conditions and what survives contact with real projects. This panel will provide technology buyers and project teams with a rigorous framework for separating genuine deployment-ready solutions from those still years away from commercial viability.
Randy is the co-lead of the MLT Aikins Energy practice. He works extensively in the Energy IP area and provides support for CCUS projects. Randy is also the former Board Chair for PTRC – Sustainable Energy and provided legal support for the PTRC Aquistore CO2 storage project and associated enhanced oil recovery (EOR) project. Randy is currently the Board Chair for the International CCS Knowledge Centre.
Registration for the Conference is open now. Reserve your seat today.
