Renfe has launched this Thursday a new application for Rodalies and another for Cercanías with real-time information on train circulation, network incidents, and interactive maps showing the exact position of the trains.

The launch comes after the Ministry of Transport disseminated punctuality and incident statistics in 2025 and activated a website in March to track high-speed, Medium, and Long-Distance trains, so the novelty now is that these functions also extend to the daily use of proximity travelers in Catalonia.

The new applications integrate the viewer and add voice searches

A viewer for Cercanías already existed since November, but it is now integrated into the new mobile tools.

In addition to consulting updated schedules, users can check upcoming stops, station accessibility, and surrounding services, including bicycle parking. Ticket purchase has also been simplified to speed up access to service status and delay or incident alerts.

The applications incorporate artificial intelligence-based functions that learn from user habits to propose adapted routes and allow voice searches.

Transport extends railway tracking digitalization to Rodalies in Catalonia

In Catalonia, the novelty is incorporated into the Rodalies service within the railway network modernization plan to improve daily mobility in the main metropolitan areas.

This update is in addition to other recent changes in traveler information about active limitations in Rodalies, while the network focuses on service regularity and incident response. It also aligns with recent incidents that have affected circulation, such as cable theft in Vinaixa.

The operation is supported by a renewed design and instant consultation of service status so that travelers can check delays, incidents, and journey alternatives from their mobile phones.

In March, the Ministry of Transport had already activated a website to check the real-time location of high-speed, Medium, and Long-Distance trains.
