RV Company Evotrex Nets $30 Million Round
Evotrex, the company bringing hybrid electric drive to recreational vehicles, announced in early June that it raised $30 million in series A funding.
The two-year-old company, based in City of Industry, is using the fresh influx of cash to finish developing, testing and building its first hybrid electric RV trailer, called the Evotrex-PG5. Evotrex expects to begin delivering to customers who pre-ordered the vehicle in 2027.
“Evotrex was created to transform outdoor adventure and challenge the traditional boundaries of what an RV can be,” said Alex Xiao, the chief executive and founder of Evotrex, in a statement. “Following the strong response to our CES debut earlier this year, this financing represents a major milestone for the company and validates our vision for a new category of intelligent, power-generating RVs designed around flexibility, energy independence, and modern living.”
For Xiao, Evotrex is the best of both worlds. Currently, most mainstream RV equipment relies on generators. New all-electric models developed by startups like Sunnyvale-based Pebble or Colorado-based Lightship need a reliable and accessible power source.
The company’s hybrid approach allows Evotrex’s RV battery pack to be recharged via an onboard gas engine, which is easier to refill in remote areas. The company aims to set itself apart from current RV models by enhancing power capabilities, allowing users to spend extended periods off-roading in the backcountry before returning to civilization for fuel.
The series A was funded by a spate of China-based investors, including Forebright Concerto Capital, GSR United Capital and TTGG Ventures. The new round bumps Evotrex’s total funding to $46 million.
