Samsung Rolls Out OpenAI Tools to Workforce in Major Enterprise Push

Samsung Electronics deployed OpenAI’s ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex to its entire South Korean workforce and select international divisions, Seeking Alpha reported Monday (June 22). The deployment marks one of the artificial intelligence developer’s largest corporate adoptions to date.

The technology conglomerate plans to integrate these AI tools across multiple core business functions, encompassing software engineering, product development, marketing and manufacturing. The sweeping rollout covers about 125,000 employees in South Korea, alongside international staff operating within Samsung’s Device eXperience division.

This deployment further deepens the strategic relationship between the two firms, as Samsung already supplies OpenAI with the advanced memory chips critical for running its extensive AI infrastructure.

“This historic deployment for OpenAI is particularly significant because Samsung Electronics, a global leader in technology and manufacturing, is embracing AI not as a tool limited to certain teams or functions, but as a core platform for improving how employees around the world work and innovate,” said Harrison Kim, general manager of OpenAI Korea.

The expansive integration of ChatGPT at Samsung aligns with broader trends in workplace AI adoption, where OpenAI’s tools have demonstrated traction among professionals. According to a June 8 report by PYMNTS, ChatGPT has emerged as the dominant AI application in the office environment, outdrawing platforms that are automatically bundled into corporate IT systems by default. A PYMNTS Intelligence survey found that 73% of employees who use AI on the job choose ChatGPT, placing it ahead of alternatives like Google’s Gemini at 55% and Microsoft’s Copilot at 47%.

However, the PYMNTS research highlights a nuanced and highly competitive enterprise AI landscape. Microsoft’s Copilot, benefiting from its deep integration into the Microsoft 365 suite, holds the largest absolute pipeline of users migrating from workplace to personal use, converting roughly 7 million professionals into at-home users. Meanwhile, Anthropic’s Claude registers the highest user loyalty and perceived productivity; 81% of Claude’s work users report they could not do their job, or would be meaningfully slower, without the tool.

Despite these competitive benchmarks, ChatGPT maintains the highest joint reach for dual-use across work and personal tasks at 66%. By adopting ChatGPT Enterprise on a companywide scale, Samsung is leveraging this established habit, equipping its workforce with an application that employees already demonstrate an independent preference for using.
