ShibuLA Ventures, an Ecosystem Developer and Venture Studio, Expands into Yokohama, Kanagawa
Its entry into Japan is positioned as part of its broader Asia strategy, aiming to strengthen collaboration between U.S. and Japanese innovation ecosystems by leveraging Japan’s technological capabilities and industrial base. In this context, the company established its Japanese subsidiary, ShibuLA Ventures Japan Co., Ltd., in Yokohama, Kanagawa, in March 2026. Operating under a distinct business model tailored to complement the U.S. headquarters, the Yokohama subsidiary builds and offers expanded service capabilities. These include structuring compliance-mapped cross-border transactions (such as IP intermediation, minority stock sales support, and private M&A), providing ground-level operational infrastructure and legacy debt workouts for local targets, and serving as a vital bridge for investor relations, bilingual financial reporting, and corporate approval (Ringi) processes.
In establishing its Japan base, the JETRO Invest Japan Business Support Center (IBSC) provided comprehensive support, including introductions to judicial scriveners and tax accountants, information on rental office options, guidance on subsidies and grants, arrangement of meetings with Kanagawa Prefecture, and assistance with opening bank accounts.
Going forward, in close cooperation with Kanagawa Prefecture and Yokohama City, the company plans to develop new business initiatives and support startup creation through industry-academia-government collaboration in Japan, while promoting overseas expansion support and innovation programs. Through collaboration with Japanese companies, it aims to facilitate cross-border business creation and is expected to contribute to strengthening innovation capacity and revitalizing regional economies in Japan.
