Small private plane crashes at Montreal Metropolitan Airport
Pilot injured, commercial flights disrupted
A small private plane crashed while attempting to land at the Montreal Metropolitan Airport in Longueuil, Que., on Thursday afternoon.
According to a spokesperson for the airport, the pilot was alone on the plane and was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Both the airport fire department and the Longueuil fire department responded to the incident.
"Runway 24R-06L will remain closed until further notice to allow emergency responders to complete their work," the airport said in a statement.
Commercial flight operations have been disrupted as a result, it added.
"The safety of our passengers, flight crews, and all airport users remains our highest priority."
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada told CBC the incident occurred around 4 p.m. on Thursday afternoon. The agency said it is currently collecting information and is not planning to deploy investigators to the scene.
