SME Corporation Supports Technology Collaboration Between Deep Tech Startups and Large & Mid

Support Provided,Including On-Site Meet-Ups and Post-Event Negotiations

The Small and Medium Business Corporation announced on the 14th that it held the “2026 Deep Tech Startup Academy Technology Exchange with Large and Mid-Sized Companies for Market Entry of Academy Startups” at the Deep Tech Startup Academy in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, on the 11th.

This year, the 198 companies that entered the advanced deep tech program are technology-intensive firms that have passed verification for technological excellence, business feasibility, and growth potential, and possess proprietary core technologies and intellectual property. Many of these companies have reached the stage of technology validation for implementation in industrial fields, but they have relatively fewer points of contact with on-site departments of large and mid-sized companies.

Accordingly, the Small and Medium Business Corporation has created opportunities for technology-intensive startups and large/mid-sized companies with technology needs to connect, so that these interactions could lead to proof-of-concept (PoC) projects and business collaboration.

The event was attended by startups from the Deep Tech Startup Academy, as well as six large and mid-sized companies from the fields of artificial intelligence (AI) and communications, cloud, education, IT infrastructure, and semiconductors, who participated as demand organizations. Based on the collaboration areas proposed by these demand organizations, pre-matching with startups was conducted, and the event was structured in three stages: on-site meet-up, and post-event negotiation support.

Following an open innovation seminar introducing each organization’s strategies and direction for collaboration, four separate sessions of one-on-one proof-of-concept meet-ups were also held. The startups presented their technologies and solutions, and discussed further cooperation opportunities with large and mid-sized companies, including proof-of-concept testing, purchasing, technology transfer, and investment possibilities.

Im Ji-hyun, Principal of the Youth Startup Academy, stated, “We will continue to expand opportunities for collaboration with large and mid-sized companies so that the innovative technologies of deep tech startups can be validated in real industrial settings and lead to successful business outcomes.”
