Team Canada dominated on the diamond again Thursday — twice — continuing their winning streak at the 2026 Canada Cup International Softball Championship in South Surrey.

The Canadian Women’s National Team picked up two convincing victories Thursday (July 9) at Softball City, beating Czechia 10-0 in a shutout in their 1 p.m. game, and winning 16-4 over China in their 6 p.m. game, bring their tournament record to an undefeated 5-0 in round robin play.

Victoria firefighter Emma Entzminger led the way in Canada’s opening game, driving in four runs on two doubles as the Canadians blanked Czechia U22 10-0, a Canada Cup release shared.

Surrey’s Kianna Jones added a solo home run, while Paige Simpson delivered a two-run triple to help power the offense. Pitcher Dawn Bodrug earned the win in the circle, allowing just one hit while striking out five over three scoreless innings, with White Rock/South Surrey native Sara Groenewegen closing out the shutout in relief.

Natalie Wideman led Canada with three hits as the team collected 12 hits and played another flawless game defensively.

In their second game against Chine, the Canadian bats stayed red hot as Team Canada exploded for 15 runs in the third inning en route to a 16-4 victory over China, the release continued.

Erika Polidori put on an offensive clinic, launching two home runs and driving in six runs, while Logan Forman added a grand slam during the inning.

Cloverdale’s Grace Messmer, Jones and CC Wong also went deep as Canada hit six home runs in the contest, with Polidori and Jones each finishing with multiple home runs, while Delta’s Kelsey Harshman, Forman, Maple Ridge’s Larissa Franklin, Polidori and Jones all recorded two-hit performances.

Morgan Rackel earned the win on the mound as Canada completed another dominant all-around performance.
