12 Chandigarh: The Haryana police has received national recognition for technological innovation in crime investigation and identification, with the Criminal Procedure Identification System (CrPIS) developed by the State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB) being described as the best model in the country at the 26th All India Fingerprint Directors' Conference held in New Delhi on Saturday.Union home minister Amit Shah launched the digital system during the conference, attended by senior police officers, fingerprint experts and forensic scientists from across the country.The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) awarded the Haryana State Crime Records Bureau a ‘Certificate of Excellence' for developing and implementing the CrPIS platform in record time. Inspector Karnail Singh, posted at the SCRB headquarters in Panchkula, received the award on behalf of Haryana police.Conference participants praised Haryana's technological framework, citing the speed, efficiency and accuracy with which the system was designed and made operational, and said it could serve as a model for other states. The development was presented as part of Haryana Police's efforts to modernise crime investigation and strengthen identification mechanisms through technology.State DGP Ajay Singhal attributed the achievement to the vision of chief minister Nayab Singh Saini and the state government's focus on good governance, digital innovation and technology-driven policing. He said Haryana has been prioritising smart policing, digital infrastructure and scientific investigation systems to strengthen law enforcement capabilities.Singhal congratulated superintendent of police Nitika Gehlot and the SCRB team, saying the honour reflects the professional competence, innovation and technology-oriented work culture of Haryana police. He said the use of scientific investigation and digital tools is essential for addressing modern-day crimes.Singhal said the CrPIS system would strengthen criminal identification, record management and investigation processes, and reinforce Haryana's position among leading states in technology-driven policing and scientific crime investigation.
