Tech Weakness Drags DAX Lower
Frankfurt's DAX 40 fell about 0.4% to trade below 25,200 on Thursday, pressured by a broader sell-off in technology stocks.
Concerns over AI-related investments and fears of higher US interest rates weighed on investor sentiment, as rising borrowing costs could put pressure on technology companies and other rate-sensitive sectors.
Meanwhile, traders continued to monitor geopolitical developments and corporate earnings worldwide.
Infineon Technologies plunged over 9%, making it the worst performer, with AI-related Siemens Energy (-6.9%) and Hochtief (-3.5%) also falling sharply.
Other notable decliners included Siemens, Continental, GEA Group, RWE, Deutsche Bank and Commerzbank, falling between 0.6% and 2.6%.
On the upside, telecom, insurers and software companies advanced the most. Deutsche Telekom led gains, rising over 3%, followed by Scout24 (3%), Hannover Ruck (2.6%) and Munchener Ruck (2.5%).
