The Stuff AI Is Made Of: A Human Ecology of Artificial Intelligence

COA Cody van Heerden Chair in Economics & Quantitative Social Sciences Dr. Hien Nguyen explores the material, human, and ecological systems that make artificial intelligence possible at the second annual Bill Newlin Memorial Faculty Lecture.

Drawing on their course, Political Economy of AI, Nguyen examines AI through a human ecology lens.

The Bill Newlin Memorial Faculty Lecture celebrates COA’s faculty and connects supporters with the college’s academic program.

The 45-minute lecture will be followed by audience Q&A and an in-person reception from 7–7:30 p.m.

Attendance is by invitation. This event is offered to current members of the Champlain Society, Alumni Leadership Circle, and Northern Lights Society. Current trustees, life trustees, trustees emeriti, faculty emeriti, and current COA faculty are also warmly invited.
