Three murder arrests after body found

Three men have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man's body was found in a property.

Northamptonshire Police said it believed the man, in his 50s, died several days before his body was discovered.

Officers went to the address on High Street in Burton Latimer on Wednesday afternoon after receiving a "concern for welfare" call.

Two other people have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Following a forensic post-mortem examination on Thursday at Leicester Royal Infirmary, detectives launched the murder investigation.

It is being led by the East Midlands Special Operations Unit.

Three men, aged 43, 48 and 54, have been arrested on suspicion of murder, while two people, a woman, aged 38 and a man, aged 53, have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. All remain in police custody.

Det Insp Cheryl Thompson described the inquiry as "fast-paced".

Officers had been speaking to local people and businesses in recent days, she said, and they wanted anyone who had seen "suspicious activity" in the High Street area to contact the force.
