Transformer blowout in Kanata closes nearby businesses
Blowout considered not suspicious, police say
Two Kanata businesses have said they are closed due to a transformer blowout on Saturday evening.
Police and fire services responded to the blowout at 767 Silver Seven Road around 7 p.m., Ottawa Police Service (OPS) said.
Ottawa Fire Services assigned an investigator, who deemed the event not suspicious, OPS said.
No one was reported injured and Ottawa Paramedics Service said it did not respond.
Local businesses Exhālō Spa Kanata and Moo and Bean Cafe posted online saying they would be closed until further notice.
OPS could not say how many businesses were affected or provide information about the extent of the damage.
