Trudeau airport security agent hospitalized after being struck by vehicle

The employee was seriously injured after being knocked over on ramp leading to arrivals section

Quebec provincial police are investigating a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian at Montreal's Trudeau airport on Sunday afternoon.

Sûreté du Québec spokesperson Stéphane Tremblay said the victim, a security agent at the airport, was directing traffic when he was knocked over by a vehicle.

He was rushed to hospital to be treated for serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

Tremblay said the incident happened at around 3:30 p.m. on the ramp leading to the airport's arrivals section.

The driver remained at the scene and was expected to meet with investigators.

In a statement, Aéroports de Montréal (ADM) confirmed the injured man was a security guard assigned to traffic control.

Police closed off a section of the arrivals area to allow for the investigation, leading to traffic disruptions at the airport.

ADM said airport security personnel had been deployed to help travellers get around.

Tremblay said the perimeter was lifted before 6 p.m., but the investigation is ongoing. He added the driver could face possible charges in connection with the incident, but was unable to specify what those might be.
