Trump declares anyone who calls artificial intelligence "artificial intelligence" to be enemy of White House
U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the White House considers people who continue to use the term "artificial intelligence" instead of "superintelligence" to be enemies. Earlier, the U.S. leader signed an executive order requiring federal agencies to change the name of the technology in official documents.
Trump wrote about this on his social media platform, Truth Social.
“The White House considers anyone who uses the term ‘artificial intelligence’ instead of the universally recognized new and more accurate term ‘superintelligence’ to be an enemy,” the U.S. President said.
He did not specify whether using the old term would have any consequences for the people the White House now calls enemies.
Trump first voiced the idea of abandoning the term “artificial intelligence” during a speech at the UN General Assembly. At the time, he explained that the word “artificial” creates a false impression of the technology and downplays its capabilities.
“Using the term ‘artificial intelligence’ makes it sound fake - it sounds fake, but it’s not. It’s actually amazing,” said the U.S. President.
Trump promised to officially change the terminology used by the U.S. government.
On September 30, he signed an executive order introducing the term “superintelligence” and its abbreviation, SI (from “super intelligence”), for federal agencies.
According to the document, U.S. agencies must use the new term in public communications, on official websites, in reports, and in regulatory documents. The executive order notes that technological advancements are ushering in a new phase, which the Trump administration proposes to call the era of superintelligence.
