Trump meets Zelenskyy and Netanyahu in Washington

US President Donald Trump has held talks with the leaders of Ukraine and Israel. The meetings come as he navigates his response to the conflicts in both regions.

The separate talks were held behind closed doors at the White House on Tuesday.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy posted on social media that he and Trump had a "good meeting." He said they discussed licenses for the production of interceptor missiles for the US-made Patriot air defense system, and expressed hope for renewed diplomatic efforts toward peace with Russia.

Trump later had talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. It was the first time the two met face-to-face since the two countries launched military operations against Iran in February. Israeli media reports they mainly discussed Iran and reaffirmed a commitment to preventing Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

The Israeli government released a photo of Trump, Netanyahu and US Vice President JD Vance smiling together. It appears to be aimed at showing how ties between the two sides remain close. The US and Israel have reportedly seen rising tensions over Lebanon.
