Trust administrator playing politics, says Trust member Dinendra Das

TNNMahant Dinendra DasAyodhya/Lucknow: A member of the Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra and Nirmohi Akhara chief, Mahant Dinendra Das, has blamed Trust functionary Gopal Nagarkatte for throwing old traditions to the wind and ‘playing politics’ which has led to the entire controversy.Das’ allegations, voiced just before the Trust meeting scheduled on July 6, seem to indicate that the Trust members were not taken into confidence in the past while finalising the roles of various stakeholders.An invitee member of the trust, Nagarkatte, has remained involved with the construction work of the temple from the beginning and continues to oversee the construction work. While speaking to NBT on June 25, Das had openly voiced his objections to the way puja rituals of Ram Lalla are carried out in the temple. “Only individuals who are wearing kanthis and have formally committed themselves to god should be allowed to access the innermost sanctum sanctorum to serve the deity. The Trust members have not been following the rituals properly,” he had said.As per Vaishnav practitioners, an individual having access to the idol should wear a ‘tulsi’ mala and be initiated spiritually. Das also expressed his concerns about the association of Tinnu Yadav, one of the arrested accused in donation theft case, who was sent to jail in the past too. Accusing Nagarkatte of creating unnecessary complications, Das said he needs to be kept away from the Trust’s internal functioning.“We made a mistake by bringing him into the Trust. He was introduced by Anil Mishra and we feel cheated now,” said Das. The seer is also against restructuring the Trust, saying that when the Trust is already operating, there is no need to appoint a chief executive officer.
