Tucho Fernández will visit Madrid to address the challenges of artificial intelligence

Cardinal Víctor Manuel Fernández, prefecto of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, will travel to Madrid on September 30 to participate in a day dedicated to the challenges of artificial intelligence in light of the encyclical Magnifica humanitas by Leo XIV.

The event, titled «The Lessons of the Encyclical Letter Magnifica Humanitas: an AI centered on people,» will be held between 6:30 p.m. and 8:45 p.m. at the Pontifical University of Comillas and is organized by the Diego de Pantoja Observatory of the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences.

Fernández will share his intervention with Andrés Allamand

Fernández will participate in a 45-minute intervention alongside Andrés Allamand, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Chile and current Ibero-American Secretary General.

The Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB) has officially included the event in its agenda for September 30 and confirms Allamand’s participation. The presence of the prefect of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith and the details of the program have been confirmed by sources from the Pontifical University of Comillas to El Debate.

The event will be presented by the rector of Comillas, Antonio Allende Felgueroso SJ. Among the participants are also José María Lassalle, professor at the university; Marta Pedrajas, philosopher and economist, and J. Alejandro Kawabata, director of Legal and Institutional Affairs of SEGIB.

The day aims to contribute to reflection on the challenges posed by artificial intelligence and to contribute to the debate prior to the Meeting of Ministers responsible for Digitalization and AI, scheduled for November 3.

The event is also held on the eve of the XXX Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government, which will take place in Madrid on November 4 and 5.
