Ukraine says Starlink limits disrupt military operations

A Ukrainian defense official says the US space development firm SpaceX has partially limited its Starlink internet services in Ukraine, disrupting the country's military operations.

The official from the defense ministry spoke with reporters on Wednesday. The individual said the restrictions on satellite-based internet services have hampered the interception of Russian drones, attack drone operations, as well as frontline supply transport and reconnaissance.

The defense ministry has been in contact with the United States, SpaceX and NATO member states, as it works to address the issue.

Russian forces used ballistic missiles and drones to launch massive attacks from Tuesday through Wednesday on the capital, Kyiv, and elsewhere.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy revealed that there were no advance notices from partner nations regarding the ballistic missile launches.

Amid concerns over whether the US will continue to support Ukraine, Zelenskyy met with British Prime Minister Andy Burnham in London on Wednesday.

The British government pledged its continued support for Ukraine. It also announced that it will speed up the provision of air defense missiles to the country and deploy them there as soon as possible.

Zelenskyy referred to the Starlink restrictions during a British media interview on Wednesday.

He said that "people will die" if Russia's attacks continue and Starlink cannot function. The president added, "It's not helpful."
