USGS: M7.7 quake jolts Indonesia
The US Geological Survey says an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.7 struck eastern Indonesia shortly before 22:00 UTC on Friday. It says the quake's focus is estimated to have been 10 kilometers deep.
Local weather authorities announced that tsunami waves were observed at various locations in the waters around Flores Island.
