Check in on family and neighbours during a heat event, officials say
This week could see temperatures as high as 35 C and a humidex of 42, according to Environment Canada.
Canada Day is approaching and many in the region are set to spend time outdoors, but some may have to rethink those plans.
Monday was expected to be on the cooler side of the week with a high of 29 C, and a humidex of 36.
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are set to see highs of 32, 34 and 35 C, with a humidex of 42 on Tuesday. A 30 to 40 per cent chance of showers is also possible through the week.

Environment Canada warns of a "prolonged period of very hot conditions," expected for the region.
"Check on family, friends and neighbours, who are at higher risk, particularly if they live alone, to make sure they have a cool space," says the weather agency.
Around 4 p.m. Monday, Hamilton's medical officer of health issued a heat warning beginning Tuesday. Heat warnings come into effect when temperatures are expected to hit or surpass 31 C or a humidex of 40 or more for two or more days.
During these periods, the city and community groups offer cool places for people to get relief from the heat. The city is also making regularly scheduled open swims at indoor and outdoor pools free.

It recommends that, during a heat event, people drink lots of water, wear a hat and lightweight clothes, closing blinds, and more.
The city also asks that children and pets are not left alone in closed vehicles and to check in on family and neighbours "to make sure they are OK."
