What 20 years of AWS taught me about agentic AI

David Yanacek is a senior principal engineer and a lead advisor on the agentic AI team at AWS. Today, his work focuses on frontier agent AWS DevOps Agent, Kiro, Amazon Bedrock AgentCore and more. David has dedicated his entire 20-year career growing at AWS and Amazon, delivering services that simplify the lives of developers and operators alike. His career spans working on serverless, DevOps and CloudOps services — launching Amazon DynamoDB and AWS IoT Core, and shaping production direction with AWS Lambda, Amazon API Gateway and Amazon CloudWatch. He also served as the lead publisher for Amazon Builders’ Library, helping customers incorporate architectural and operational lessons learned by Amazon into their own systems and processes. Outside of coding, David plays the French horn in a local Seattle orchestra.
