Windsor-Essex heat warning could persist until Thursday

Environment Canada says temperatures could hit 38 C with the humidity

A heat warning has been issued for Windsor-Essex in southwestern Ontario.

Temperatures of nearly 38 C with the humidity are expected from Monday through Wednesday — possibly lasting into Thursday, "although confidence is low at this stage" for it lasting that long, Environment and Climate Change Canada said in a statement.

Without the humidity, the yellow advisory from the weather agency calls for maximum temperatures as hot as 31 C and minimum overnight lows of 20 to 22 C.

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit says older adults, infants and young children are especially at risk from the high temperatures. Same for people who work or exercise in the heat or have certain medical conditions.

Officials say warning signs include dizziness, headache, nausea or vomiting, weakness and confusion.
