Canada was eliminated from the World Cup Saturday (July 4) after losing 3-0 to Morocco.

Canada’s Alistair Johnston, Stephen Eustáquio and Richie Laryea spoke to the media after the match.

Johnston said he hoped that Canadians could be proud of the soccer they saw the team play during the World Cup.

“They saw a Canadian team that was not afraid of anyone, that played how I think we always want all of our Canadian teams to play,” Johnston said. “We went toe to toe with any challenge that was thrown at us, and we played with that Canadian honesty and just resilience.”

Eustáquio said he was disappointed with the final result.

“Especially after that first half, I think we were the better team if we see the momentum chart. I think we were always much more present, much more aggressive than Morocco,” Eustáquio said. “But at the same time, we’re talking about the sixth FIFA-ranked team; they have amazing players, and then in the details, I think they’re more used to these stages than us.

Paraguay was also eliminated after losing 1-0 to France in Philadelphia. France will play Morocco in the quarterfinals on Thursday (July 9) at 1 p.m. in Boston.

France’s Kylian Mbappé scored the lone goal on a penalty kick, giving his team the win they needed to advance to the quarterfinals.

There are two matches scheduled for Sunday: Brazil vs. Norway at 1 p.m. in New York, followed by Mexico vs. England at 5 p.m. in Mexico City.

U.S.A vs. Belgium in Seattle at 5 p.m.
