Here's what you need to know for Day 27 of the World Cup.
Tuesday, July 7 | 12 p.m. ET | Atlanta | TV: Fox
Odds: Argentina -435, Egypt +700
Argentina and Lionel Messi continue their quest to become the first country to successfully defend a World Cup title since Brazil in 1962. However, La Albiceleste got a scare against Cape Verde in its Round of 32 matchup before prevailing in extra time, 3-2.
Messi has scored a goal in each of Argentina's four games thus far and will look to break away from France's Kylian Mbappé and Norway's Erling Haaland to retake the lead in the Golden Boot race.
Egypt and Mohamed Salah seek to continue a historic World Cup run after defeating Australia for its first-ever win in the knockout round on penalty kicks. The Pharoahs could present a formidable defensive challenge, having allowed one goal in each of its four World Cup matches.
Tuesday, July 7 | 4 p.m. ET | Vancouver | TV: Fox
Odds: Switzerland +180, Colombia -111
Colombia hasn't allowed a goal in its past three World Cup matches, shutting out DR Congo, Portugal and Ghana. However, Los Cafeteros have only scored two goals in those three matches, battling to a 0-0 draw with Portugal.
Scoring could be even more difficult with striker Jhon Córdoba sustaining a left adductor tear against Ghana. Yet Luis Díaz and Luis Suárez will be counted upon to create opportunities and maintain possession.
Switzerland is in the Round of 16 for the fourth consecutive World Cup after its 2-0 win over Algeria but have not advanced to the quarterfinals since 1954 when Switzerland hosted the tournament. The Swiss have spread their scoring around with Johan Manzambi tallying three goals, followed by Breel Embolo and Rubén Vargas each finding the net twice.
