They were pronounced dead Thursday after being pulled from water
A youth in central Newfoundland is dead in an apparent drowning, say police.
In a statement Friday, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police say its Grand Falls-Windsor detachment got a report Thursday around 4:30 p.m. NT that a young person was in the water at the Leech Brook swimming hole, located near the town.
Police, emergency medical services personnel as well as the Exploits Search and Rescue were on the scene, with search and rescue volunteers bringing the youth to shore.
“Tragically, the youth was pronounced deceased at the scene,” said the statement.
The office of the chief medical examiner is involved.
“RCMP Newfoundland and Labrador extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends and community of the deceased,” the statement reads.
