Youth must enter politics, strengthen democracy: CM
Times News NetworkBhopal: Chief minister Mohan Yadav on Thursday urged young people to enter politics and play an active role in strengthening democracy, saying nation-building should not be confined to careers in medicine, engineering or other professions.Addressing the inaugural session of ‘Sansad Youth Parliament 2026’ at the Vidhan Sabha Bhavan, Yadav said India is the world’s youngest nation and its youth must take greater responsibility in shaping democratic institutions and public policy.“Young people should become doctors and engineers, but they should also enter politics and strengthen democracy through active participation,” Yadav said.Recalling the sacrifices of freedom fighters, Yadav referred to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, who cleared the Indian Civil Services examination but chose to leave the prestigious career and join the freedom struggle. The Youth Parliament has brought together participants from 12 states and 58 cities, who will deliberate in parliamentary format on democratic values, legislative functioning and issues of national importance.Yadav described the legislature as a “sacred institution” where policies for public welfare are framed. He also pointed to the participation of young women in the event as an example of growing women’s participation in public life.Later, virtually addressing the Balram Krishi Mahotsav in Raisen, Yadav said the district’s Basmati rice was being exported to 47 countries and exports touched around Rs 1,800 crore last year.He said the govt was working to connect farmers with processing, branding and marketing while expanding food parks, cold chains and agricultural processing infrastructure. The state has set a target of increasing milk production from 12% to 20% and plans to develop a modern fish hatchery in every district.Bhopal: Chief minister Mohan Yadav on Thursday urged young people to enter politics and play an active role in strengthening democracy, saying nation-building should not be confined to careers in medicine, engineering or other professions.Addressing the inaugural session of ‘Sansad Youth Parliament 2026’ at the Vidhan Sabha Bhavan, Yadav said India is the world’s youngest nation and its youth must take greater responsibility in shaping democratic institutions and public policy.“Young people should become doctors and engineers, but they should also enter politics and strengthen democracy through active participation,” Yadav said.Recalling the sacrifices of freedom fighters, Yadav referred to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, who cleared the Indian Civil Services examination but chose to leave the prestigious career and join the freedom struggle. The Youth Parliament has brought together participants from 12 states and 58 cities, who will deliberate in parliamentary format on democratic values, legislative functioning and issues of national importance.Yadav described the legislature as a “sacred institution” where policies for public welfare are framed.
