Zelenskyy: Russia strikes despite Trump ceasefire claim
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has accused Russia of continuing its attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, despite US President Donald Trump's announcement of an "energy ceasefire" between the two countries.
On Monday, the day after Trump's announcement, Zelenskyy wrote on social media that on that day alone, Russia attacked six energy facilities in Ukraine.
Zelenskyy added that if countries are serious about ending the war, they need to exert more pressure on Russian entities.
Zelenskyy also spoke to ABC News on Sunday after Trump said it was time for Ukraine to get a new president. Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine would organize elections if Russia agreed to a 60-day total ceasefire.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov rejected Zelenskyy's 60-day truce proposal, saying Russian President Vladimir Putin would be ready to order a halt to strikes only on election day.
