AAP donations fall 68%, BJD reports nil: What political parties received in FY26

AAP: ₹12.09 crore: The Aam Aadmi Party reported ₹12.09 crore in contributions for FY25-26, down 68% from ₹38.10 crore in FY24-25. Prudent Electoral Trust and Trident Ltd contributed ₹5 crore each, together accounting for nearly 83% of the disclosed contributions. ₹5 lakh came from Jain Siddiqui and Associates, ₹20,010 from Brilliant Study Centre and ₹21,100 from former AAP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka, now co-convenor of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal made three contributions of ₹10,000 each during the financial year. Trident was founded by former AAP Rajya Sabha MP Rajinder Gupta, who joined the BJP in April 2026.

BJD: Almost nil: The Biju Janata Dal reported no contributions above ₹20,000 for FY25-26. That compares with ₹60 crore disclosed in FY24-25, all of which was received in April and May 2024, as per reports, before the Odisha election results. Vedanta Ltd was the biggest donor then, contributing ₹25 crore.

TDP: ₹58.25 crore: The Telugu Desam Party reported ₹58.25 crore in contributions for FY25-26, down from ₹83.03 crore in FY24-25. Prudent Electoral Trust contributed ₹45 crore, compared with ₹40 crore to the party in the previous financial year. Companies were the next-largest donor category, contributing ₹1.76 crore.

YSRCP: ₹24.30 crore: The YSR Congress Party reported ₹24.30 crore in contributions for FY25-26, sharply down from about ₹140.04 crore in FY24-25. Goodwood Sanctuary Pvt Ltd contributed ₹10 crore, making it the biggest donor in the latest filing. NA Divine Habitat Pvt Ltd contributed another ₹5 crore.

AGP: ₹7.64 crore: The Asom Gana Parishad reported ₹7.64 crore in contributions for FY25-26. The BJP's Assam unit contributed ₹5.18 crore, accounting for a substantial share of AGP's disclosed contributions. The party also received ₹35 lakh from two companies, in contributions of ₹25 lakh and ₹10 lakh.

LJP (Ram Vilas): ₹3.23 crore: The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) reported ₹3.23 crore in contributions for FY25-26. Prudent Electoral Trust contributed ₹1 crore. Companies including Agventure Enterprises, Magnum Management and Services, Ganesh Infraworld, JPJ Infratech and Bhawani Homes Projects together accounted for more than ₹80 lakh.

What about BJP and Congress? The Election Commission has not yet made the FY2025-26 contribution reports of the BJP, Congress and other national parties public, according to the latest reporting on the filings. The ECI says Form 24A is the annual contribution report covering contributions exceeding ₹20,000 received by a political party in a financial year. These reports therefore do not represent the party's total annual income; political parties also file separate audited annual accounts.
