Arrest made after man threatened and gun fired
A man has been arrested on suspicion of firearm offences after a gun was fired in Barnsley.
South Yorkshire Police was called to Smithies Lane at about 22:05 BST on Saturday to reports of gunshots, with a man allegedly threatened during the incident.
No injuries were reported, with a 39-year-old man later arrested in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. He currently remains in custody, the force said.
Urging anyone with information to come forward, Det Insp Joanne Chambers said: "When a gun is fired the consequences can be devastating.
"Thankfully no one was injured as a result of this incident, but next time this might not be the case."
She added: "Our communities should not be put at risk because of the reckless actions of those willing to pull a trigger and place innocent lives in potential danger."
