Birmingham bank opens its HQ to startups, small businesses
A new bank has opened its headquarters in Birmingham in cooperation with a coworking space.
Always.bank is located at 2308 First Ave. S. in Basepoint, a coworking space for customers.
The bank is a division of 22nd State Banking Co. and offers a digital-first experience. Meanwhile, BasePoint provides advisory services and flexible membership tiers as well as collaborative space for entrepreneurs.
Founded in 1917 as Farmer’s Exchange Bank, 22nd State is headquartered in Mobile.
Steve Smith, CEO of 22nd Street Banking Co. and founder of Always.bank, said the concept is “about creating more opportunities for connection and support within the business community.”
“BasePoint is a reflection of our belief that small business banking should extend beyond transactions and into real relationships and community,” Smith said.
At BasePoint, customers can access guidance from advisors while they connect with peers.
“By combining digital tools with a physical hub, we’re creating a more complete, customizable experience for today’s business owners,” Greg Spadea, chief digital officer, said.
