Business and Technology University Celebrates Its 10th Anniversary

Business and Technology University is celebrating its 10th anniversary. Since its establishment in 2016, BTU has implemented large-scale projects across education, science, technology and entrepreneurship, becoming one of the fastest-growing universities in the country.

Over the past decade, 13,680 students have enrolled at BTU, more than 3,500 have graduated, and the number of academic and invited faculty members has reached 350. Today, the University offers 16 accredited bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programmes.

BTU’s educational model is built around the integration of business and technology, international standards and close cooperation with industry. Artificial intelligence is being actively integrated into the University’s teaching, research and management processes and has become one of the key priorities of BTU’s development. The University has created BTUAI, an innovative analytical platform, the largest Georgian digital knowledge bank, AI assistants for students and professors, and a range of other AI-driven solutions. BTU’s international initiative, AI4Globe, has been recognised by UNESCO as an influential initiative of the International Decade of Sciences.

Over the past 10 years, BTU has implemented approximately 170 international projects, through which more than 10,000 beneficiaries across Georgia have gained access to fully funded education and professional development opportunities. BTU works with more than 100 leading partner universities around the world. These partnerships have enabled exchange programmes, the creation of seven double-degree programmes, and international mobility opportunities for hundreds of students and professors.

The University has also built a strong research profile, with publications in leading international scientific journals, participation in international research projects, the development of an unprecedented AI-powered research platform, and other significant achievements. These efforts have contributed to BTU becoming a member of CERN, one of the world’s most respected and influential research centres.

Another important part of BTU’s work focuses on women’s economic and technological empowerment, improving digital literacy among children and young people across Georgia, advancing sustainable development, and implementing a wide range of other socially impactful initiatives. Tens of thousands of participants have benefited from these programmes over the past decade. Through this work, BTU has become one of the region’s leading institutions in developing the digital ecosystem, creating inclusive educational opportunities and contributing to the country’s social and economic development.

Business and Technology University has also developed an entirely new and modern educational infrastructure. Two campuses have been built in the centre of Tbilisi, bringing together classrooms equipped with the latest technologies, teaching and research laboratories, career, entrepreneurship and research centres, libraries and multifunctional spaces. In 2026, BTU also established a Student Grant Fund to support students and contribute to their academic development.

Building on the achievements of its first decade, BTU is now entering a new stage of development. The University’s ambition is to become a global leader in education, science and technological innovation in the age of artificial intelligence, to create a new model for the university of the future, and to help define a new standard for the development of higher education in the region and beyond.
