California adopts Diwali resolution, expresses 'deepest respect' for Indian Americans

The resolution describes Diwali as a festival of great significance to Indian Americans and South Asian Americans. It notes that Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists and Jains celebrate the festival annually across the United States and around the world

California’s State Assembly has adopted a resolution recognising Diwali and expressing its “deepest respect” for Indian Americans and the Indian diaspora in the state and around the world.
House Resolution 137 recognises this year’s Diwali festival on November 8 and encourages Californians to participate in the celebrations. Assembly members Darshana Patel and Ash Kalra introduced the measure on August 13.
