Canada eyes bilateral deals amid CUSMA uncertainty
Canada-U.S. Trade Minister Dominic LeBlanc says he expects to see bilateral agreements negotiated with the United States as Canada and Mexico look to extend a critical continental trade pact. Speaking to reporters at an unrelated press conference in Toronto, Prime Minister Mark Carney says there has been progress in negotiations since LeBlanc met with U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer in Washington last week. Carney says Canada is also looking for a bilateral trade agreement with Mexico. (June 11, 2026)
