Canada vs Morocco: Six scorers in six games — Atlas Lions make World Cup history with 3-0 demolition
Morocco demolished Canada 3-0 in a dominant World Cup Round of 32 performance, with Issa Diop opening the scoring and Achraf Hakimi marshalling a defence that gave the co-hosts nothing. The Atlas Lions' clinical attacking put Canada to the sword in front of a stunned home crowd.
A fiery first half saw six yellow cards shared between the two sides, but Morocco kept their composure and broke through in the 50th minute through Issa Diop. Canada's frustration mounted, and Morocco punished them twice more — in the 82nd and 90th minutes — to seal a comprehensive victory.
Canada threw bodies forward and won 11 corners but could never break down a superbly organised Moroccan backline led by Hakimi and Bounou.
This was Morocco's statement of intent. The 2022 semi-finalists look every bit as dangerous in this tournament, combining defensive organisation with clinical counter-attacking. Canada exit the World Cup knowing they were outclassed by a side operating at peak efficiency. Morocco advance to the Round of 16 with genuine momentum.
