Celebrations begin as the hundredth edition of FIM 6DAYS® draws to a close

Following a week of world-class racing, it was finally time to celebrate the winners of the hundredth edition of the 6DAYS® FIM Enduro of Nations in Portugal.

After the opening ceremony in Sines, the 6DAYS® returned to the picturesque coastal town to decide the outcome of this year’s race with the Day Six Final Cross Test.

The prize-giving ceremony then drew proceedings to a spectacular close on the sands of the Praia Vasco da Gama beach, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

As winners of the World Trophy and Junior World Trophy competitions, it was Italy who ultimately celebrated the loudest.

Entering this year’s hundredth edition as defending champions of both classes, they raced with a focus and determination that could not be matched.

Their World Trophy team enjoyed a start-to-finish win. From Day One, Italy firmly positioned themselves at the top of the standings, and they were never truly challenged.

An added bonus came with team leader Andrea Verona (KTM) also winning the outright individual classification for the very first time.

“I said during the opening ceremony that it was nice to arrive with the winner’s trophy, but it would be even nicer to bring it back home again,” commented Verona.

“Defending our title wasn’t something we took for granted. We knew it would be a big ask, but we all knew that we were good enough to do it.

“It’s an honour to win the biggest team award in enduro. Thank you to my teammates and everyone who supports us with such passion to help us achieve our dreams.”

After what has been a memorable week in Portugal’s Alentejo region for the 6DAYS® FIM Enduro of Nations, Italy remain the nation to beat for another twelve months at least.
