Disruption until 2028 as new water pipes installed
Lane closures and footpath diversions will be in place while new water pipes are installed.
Northumbrian Water will begin the £4m work across the Salters Lane area of Newcastle on Monday, and said it expected to finish it by February 2028.
Kenton Avenue, Wilson Gardens, Osbaldestone Gardens, Adeline Gardens, Oakhurst Drive, Eddleston Avenue, and Montagu Avenue will all be impacted by the work, which will be completed in phases.
The water company said the upgrades would reduce the risk of future pipe bursts.
Project manager Brian Hardy said: "By replacing ageing water pipes, we can improve the resilience of the network and help reduce the likelihood of future interruptions."
The traffic management measures will include sections of give-and-take traffic management - meaning closing one lane without needing traffic lights - and temporary footpath diversions, with signposted alternative routes for pedestrians.
Hardy said: "We know this work may cause some inconvenience while it is under way, and we'd like to thank residents and road users in advance for their patience and understanding."
