DMK Blasts Congress: Fallout Ends INDIA Bloc Participation
The DMK has accused Congress of betrayal after the Tamil Nadu assembly polls, leading to its withdrawal from the INDIA bloc. Tensions arose when Congress aligned with TVK, causing discord among DMK members. DMK leaders expressed anger and frustration, citing Congress's departure from their alliance.
In a significant political development, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has accused the Congress party of betrayal following their support to TVK after the Tamil Nadu assembly elections. DMK spokesperson Saravanan Annadurai reported widespread anger among party members due to Congress's actions.
As a result of this discord, DMK announced its decision to abstain from the INDIA bloc meeting scheduled for June 8, where Congress will be a participant. Annadurai emphasized that party cadets are visibly upset, prompting the leadership to respect their sentiment and avoid attending the meeting. The DMK plans to align with other parties that share its vision for national development and welfare.
DMK leader TKS Elangovan also confirmed to ANI that the party is no longer part of the INDIA bloc. He expressed dissatisfaction over Congress gaining five seats through their alliance yet choosing to collaborate with TVK for upcoming elections. This realignment has hurt the DMK cadre, who actively supported Congress during the elections, leading to the decision to sever ties.
