Source says tender results for four parcels at Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park could be expedited to as early as November
Hong Kong’s flagship tech hub at the border with mainland China received bids from firms specialising in cutting-edge fields such as chips, artificial intelligence and quantum technology, the South China Morning Post has learned.
The sites are earmarked for laboratories and talent accommodation, with a combined gross floor area exceeding 76,000 square metres.
“The Loop Hong Kong Park Company is considering advancing the announcement of the tender results, as it aims to speed up the hardware developments of the park to draw crowds and build up popularity,” a government insider said on Monday.
According to the source, five companies submitted six bids. Of these, three specialise in cutting-edge technologies including chips, artificial intelligence (AI) and quantum technology.
The remaining two are conglomerates with AI, data and medical research departments or subsidiaries.
