In line with the rapidly changing artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure market, there will be a place to diagnose the current status of the domestic data center development finance market and examine how to apply 'GPU Financing', which has recently emerged in the global market.
Korea Investment & Securities announced on the 28th that it will invite institutional investors, construction companies, managers and AI infrastructure operators to hold a "data center PF and GPU FINANCING financial structure briefing session" at its headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, on the 30th.
More than 230 industry officials attended the first briefing session held on the 18th and expressed interest, and the second briefing session will be held thanks to the high interest of the market.
At the briefing session, key working-level officials from PF Group and Research Headquarters of Korea Investment & Securities will be speakers to cover the entire data center and AI infrastructure finance. Each session consisted of ▲ changes in the latest topography of the data center industry and flow of AI factory transformation ▲ Structural characteristics of data center PF and financial arrangements ▲ Cases of overseas financing by AI-specific cloud companies and application plans in Korea ▲ Funding solutions through a private equity fund (PEF) structure exclusively for institutions.
GPU financing is a floating financial structure that raises funds based on future cash flows arising from GPU use contracts, which are high-performance computing resources. Demand for ultra-high-power and high-density AI data centers (AIDC) has soared due to the recent spread of Generative AI and Agentic AI, and GPU procurement costs are emerging as a key requirement that determines the entire data center business. Using this briefing session as a stepping stone, Korea Investment & Securities plans to actively pioneer the domestic GPU financing market, which entered the early stage beyond the traditional real estate PF area, and lead the related financial ecosystem.
"Due to the rapid growth of the AI infrastructure market, discussions on GPU financing and financial structuring are sporadic in Korea, but related information is very limited," an official at Korea Investment & Securities said. "We will lead the formation of the domestic market based on the unique track record accumulated in the data center PF market and comprehensive capabilities that encompass private equity funds (PEFs), while also contributing to the development of the AI infrastructure industry."
