India’s cultural traditions unite society: Rajnath at Delhi Rath Yatra

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday participated in the Jagannath Rath Yatra organised by the Shri Jagannath Temple at Tyagraj Nagar in the national capital, describing the centuries-old festival as a symbol of India’s “eternal cultural heritage, social harmony, and the spirit of public welfare.”

Singh joined the procession along with Delhi MP Bansuri Swaraj and offered prayers to Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra for peace, prosperity, progress and the well-being of the nation and its people.

Addressing devotees, the Defence Minister said, “The Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath is a symbol of India’s eternal cultural heritage, social harmony, and the spirit of public welfare.”

He said such religious and cultural traditions continue to strengthen the social fabric of the country.

“Such religious and cultural events strengthen the values of unity, harmony, and selfless service in society while playing a vital role in passing on India’s rich cultural heritage to future generations,” Singh said.

Extending his greetings on the auspicious occasion of Rath Yatra, he prayed for the country’s continued progress.

“May the blessings of Lord Jagannath remain with every citizen and may India continue to march forward on the path of development, prosperity, and global leadership,” the Defence Minister said.

Delhi MP Bansuri Swaraj said the Jagannath Rath Yatra was much more than a religious procession, calling it a celebration of India’s civilisational ethos.

“The Jagannath Rath Yatra is a grand celebration of Indian culture, spiritual consciousness, and social harmony. Such events not only reconnect society with its cultural roots but also reinforce the values of service, harmony, and national unity,” she said.

The event was attended by BJP District President Ravindra Chaudhary, State Spokesperson Yasir Jilani, MLA Neeraj Basoya, Municipal Councillor Anita Basoya, besides a large number of BJP office-bearers, party workers and devotees.
