Iwai Cosmo Securities: 4,611 Customer Records Leaked Due to Unauthorized Access at Outsourced Partner
Iwai Cosmo Securities announced on October 16 that information belonging to 4,611 customers was leaked externally after TradeWorks, the company entrusted with the operation and maintenance of its internet trading system, suffered unauthorized access.
The leaked data includes names, email addresses, and other details of some internet trading users. The company stated that the compromised information does not pose a risk of unauthorized logins to securities accounts or fraudulent transactions, and no secondary damage has been confirmed as of the announcement.
The company detected unauthorized access by a third party on October 14 and immediately contacted TradeWorks. Emergency measures, including access restrictions, were implemented, and the identification and correction of vulnerable points have reportedly been completed. Iwai Cosmo Securities is now requesting its contractor to re-examine vulnerabilities and strengthen its security management system.
