Kakao Consortium, which has developed "Everyone's Artificial Intelligence (AI)" service, presented a complete agent experience that even performs work according to the user's intention.
It also aims to achieve 30 million monthly active users (MAU) by 2030 by allowing users to conveniently use AI through messenger KakaoTalk and phone calls used by all citizens.
In a joint interview at the Seoul Finance Center in Jung-gu, Seoul on the 16th, Kakao Vice President Kim Se-woong said, "In work, AI has become complete, such as making Excel files, but not in real life. We are aiming for a complete agent AI service that handles areas such as public, medical, and finance."
The Kakao Consortium is a structure in which Kakao is the organizer and LG Group such as LG Uplus is working together as a key participant, and is preparing for familiar use through KakaoTalk and phone AI based on a web platform. You can talk like a friend on the Kakao Talk chat tab, or you can call and ask questions by voice.
The complete service emphasized by the Kakao Consortium goes beyond providing text-based answers to users' questions and AI performs tasks that fit their intentions instead.
"If a college student wants to apply for a scholarship, he or she needs several steps, from self-certification to issuing documents and proving his or her parents' income, and there are quite a few of them that AI can perform," Vice President Kim said. "But what's important is that money comes into his or her bank account in the end, and it's the complete form to go this far."
At the previous meeting, Kakao presented use cases such as purchasing Kakao Talk gifts through AI, booking Kakao T taxis, and issuing resident registration copies.
As AI services used by all citizens are the goal, securing convenience for the elderly who have not been exposed to AI services is also a challenge. "We are aiming for a service that does not require new learning how to use it," said Koh Jin-tae, managing director of LG Uplus. "We will also create a service differentiation part, such as using AI when understanding the results of health checkups."
In particular, LG U+ plans to make everyone's AI accessible by voice through AI phones. "In particular, our target is a senior group who have difficulty typing," Koh said. "We will create an experience of asking questions and receiving solutions over the phone through the representative number."
The consortium will first introduce the service in beta in October.
As the preparation period is tight, the company plans to introduce a basic chatbot-type service first in October and then add agent functions one by one. Vice President Kim said, "We will be able to disclose one or two agent functions related to health, medical care, and senior within the year," adding, "In the public sector, Kakao can prepare faster than other companies because it has participated in AI national secretaries."
Regarding whether AI agents can even proceed with payment in the process of issuing official documents, Vice President Kim said, "Payment agents are the most difficult part and it is difficult within this year," adding, "Instead, we will attach simple payments to make payments as easy as possible."
The two companies also emphasized the need for deregulation in terms of access to public services or using sensitive data for both agent-based AI services. Vice President Kim said, "I hope the government will consult with related agencies to take institutional measures so that agent AI services can be activated."
