Man arrested, victim identified after fatal stabbing in North York

Victim identified as 29-year-old Thi Nguyen of Toronto

A Vaughan man has been arrested and a Toronto woman has been identified as the victim after a fatal stabbing in North York, said Toronto police.

Officers responded to calls of a person with a knife in a residential building near Fairview Mall Drive and Don Mills Road shortly after 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, said Toronto police in a news release Sunday.

They said officers found a woman with stab wounds in a hallway inside the building and was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman, who is Toronto's 21st homicide victim this year, has been identified as 29-year-old Thi Nguyen, police said.

The suspect fled the scene before police arrived, but has now been arrested. A 28-year-old Vaughan man is facing charges for first degree murder and failure to comply with undertaking.

He was scheduled to appear in court Sunday morning, police said.
