Royal Cornwall Show cancelled due to strong winds

Forecast wet and windy weather has led to the final day of the Royal Cornwall Show being cancelled.

Organisers said cancelling the last day of the show, which started on Tuesday, was with "great regret", following a "thorough assessment of forecast weather conditions".

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for the region on Saturday with "unseasonably strong winds" and the potential for damage to temporary structures.

Organisers said the safety and well-being of the visitors and stakeholders was "central to this decision and remains our highest priority".

The Met Office yellow weather warning is in place from 09:00 BST to 19:00 BST and predicts gusts of 45 to 50 mph.

Organisers said: "We recognise how disappointing this news will be for everyone involved, particularly those who had planned to attend, exhibit or compete.

"We would like to thank all our stakeholders for their patience, understanding and support."

Organisers said more information for ticket holders and stakeholders would be communicated through the Royal Cornwall Show's official channels as soon as possible.

Two other events in the region have been cancelled due to the weather.

The Bideford sheep drive has been moved to 8 August, and Camborne Town Council's Camborne Green Fest has been rescheduled for September.
