Russia not ruling out resumption of 3-way peace talks

A spokesperson for the Russian presidential office has said that Russia does not rule out the resumption of high-level peace talks with Ukraine and the United States.

Russian President Vladimir Putin met the special envoy of US President Donald Trump, Steve Witkoff, and Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, in Moscow on Saturday. The US negotiators held talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv the following day.

The spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, said on Monday, "Any attempts are definitely more or less effective and it was a small step towards peace." He added, however, that it is premature to speak about the venue and the exact timing. The high-level trilateral talks have been stalled due to the conflict in the Middle East.

At a news conference after the discussions, Zelenskyy expressed hope for a breakthrough in the stalled peace talks with Russia, saying that the US envoys have resumed the negotiation process.

Witkoff, who was also present, said, "It's going to take both sides to make some compromises and narrow the issues between them."
