St Kitts Prime Minister Drew hospitalised, to seek medical attention overseas

BASSETERRE, St Kitts, CMC – St Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew has been advised to be “transported abroad for specialised observation and precautionary monitoring” after he was admitted to the Joseph N France General Hospital on Sunday night.

A government statement said “arrangements are currently underway to facilitate this transport”.

Drew, 49, was admitted “following symptoms of mild discomfort, nausea and headache” and is now in stable condition.

The statement said the prime minister remains “awake, alert, and in stable condition” following 18 hours of observation and clinical evaluation.

However, “out of an abundance of caution”, his medical team has advised that he be transported overseas.

Cabinet and the government are asking the nation to keep Drew in their prayers for a swift recovery, while reassuring that “the business of government continues seamlessly and without interruption”.

A further update on his condition is expected at 7:00 pm local time on Monday.
